HHS Marching Band Fares Well at Recent Competitions

The Hillsboro Marching Hawks recently took part in a couple of competitions this month.  The band has competed at the Metro East Marching Classic at O’Fallon, IL, and the Edwardsville Tiger Ambush Classic.

At the Metro East Classic, the Marching Hawks took second place with a score of 61.9.  Other bands in the competition included Mascoutah, Highland, Triad, and St. Charles.  The class score break down was Mascoutah HS (63.85), Hillsboro (61.90), Triad HS (59.725), Highland HS (59.225), St. Charles HS (55.95).

“Our show this year is entitled Black Swan and contains music from Peter Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and pop singer Sia’s Chandelier,” Tim Dedert, head band director said.

The band also placed sixth at its latest competition in Edwardsville, IL.  Their score was a 58.3.  “It was a tough field with Rockwood Summit, Francis Howell, Francis Howell Central, Mascoutah, and Marquette all placing above us,” Dedert commented.  “Our next competition is October 5 at SIU-Carbondale.”
